Glass Polishing & Repair

Trades and cleaners who are unaware of how easily glass is damaged often cause damage to glass during building construction. Glass is far more durable than it was historically hence it’s increased application in the construction industry. The compromise for the durability of the glass is the fact that it is actually softer, therefore more easily damaged. For example when a clean down is necessary, ‘scrapers’ are often used to remove paint and concrete splatter, this can result in unsightly scratch damage. Simply leaning things up against the glass can cause other damage.
It is a myth that glass can only be scratched with a diamond!
Another type of damage to glass occurs in the form of cracks and shells i.e. large chips. This is often caused by “impact” damage, where something has been in contact with the glass at a high velocity.
Another form of damage is “weld spatter”. We at HPA remove the swarf, chemically clean the pitted areas which provides the glass with a far more acceptable appearance. Polishing is an option but in our experience it is very time consuming and therefore rarely cost effective.
We accept that in some cases changing out the glass unit may be the only option, however as a company we offer the choice of repair or replace. Obviously the advantage of repair is the fact that is almost certainly cheaper, and it is done in situ, therefore avoiding the nightmare of long delivery times and the cost of labour and plant hire.
Solution
We have a team of highly experienced operatives who carry out the glass repair.
In the instance of cracks and other impact damage, a resin is injected into the crack or shell, which vastly improves its appearance, similar to that of ‘New’.
In the instance of repairing the scratched glass, we use a unique polishing system, which has been designed by Hill Price Associates Ltd and is highly successful.
Whilst there may be other polishing systems in the market place, we believe that none of them has the success rate and efficiency of our system.
